Regarding baby’s waste such as (like C02) is eliminated in the same way through its mother's organism. It consists in a two-step process. The blood flows in to a network of blood vessels and capillaries in the placenta.

The substances needed by the baby, like glucose, proteins, fats, oxygen, etc. flow out of the mother’s bloodstream and are absorbed by another network of blood vessels and capillaries which contain the baby’s blood supply. After that the baby’s blood flows through the umbilical cord back to the baby.

What happens when the mother eats?

When the mother eats a hamburger or a banana, the molecules of glucose, proteins, fats, vitamins, etc. are absorbed first into the mother’s blood stream, by her small intestine. The molecules go to the placenta, and then are transferred to the baby’s blood and after that they flow to the baby through the umbilical cord. Sounds awesome, right?! Yes, it is!
